16U Starzz Red: John Long, Manager  
First Pitch to Last Pitch. We are tough competitors every time we step on the field.
Our Team:
Maximum effort brings maximum results. Fielding ground balls and fly balls, time after time, after time, after time is not always fun, but when we make the play, we know why! Coach John quotes Joe (We are, PENN STATE!) Paterno, “The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital”.
U16 Goals:
To continue the building of a strong Willoughby Starzz house at the U16 level. A solid foundation is in place from the U14 years. The team continues to build, and strengthen defensive skills of pitching and fielding, as well as offensive skills of hitting and base running. We emphasize the social skills needed to create team play, not individual play to be our standard. Coach John insists, “Team first, last and always is a must when we step on the field”.
Our Coach:
According to Coach John, “There is nothing better than the seeing the face of one of my players when she makes a play, gets a hit, scores a run or strikes out a batter.” Coach John believes that we give every player the opportunity, as well as the knowledge to succeed. “I also know when a player needs to hear, don’t worry kid, it will be OK, not always hearing what they did wrong.”
